FEDERAL NUTRITION STANDARDS FOR SCHOOL MEALS

The Argyle Central School cafeteria is meeting tough federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy well-balanced and prooviding students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school.

School lunches will meet additional standards requiring:

  • Age-appropriate calorie limits, K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grades.
  • Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving of produce).
  • A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables.
  • Fat Free or 1% Milk (Flavored milk must be fat free)
  • More whole grains
  • Less Sodium

The price of school meals is as follows:

Breakfast - $1.35 and Lunch - $1.85

 

OTHER MEAL OPTIONS:

  • Sandwich Meal Consists of:  Tuna Salad or Egg Salad OR Peanut Butter Sandwich  Vegetables and fruits of the day, Fat Free or 1% Milk.
