Participation in/Attendance at School Functions by Students in Trouble

A student who is assigned detention WILL NOT have his/her detentions rescheduled to accommodate a game schedule, meeting schedule, or practice schedule of an organization of which he/she is a member.

A student who is suspended, who is a team member, cheerleader, or a club which has a game, dance or other activity scheduled will not be permitted to attend or otherwise participate in that activity if it takes place while the student is under suspension from or in school. Suspensions will not be scheduled around these events; rather, the good behavior of the members is expected in order to maintain the privilege of participation.

NO STUDENT WILL BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND OR PARTICIPATE IN A SCHOOL FUNCTION DURING THE PERIOD OF HIS/HER SUSPENSION FROM SCHOOL, BE IT AN INTERNAL SUSPENSION OR AN AT-HOME SUSPENSION.

A STUDENT WHO IS ON PROBATIONARY STATUS IN SCHOOL MAY BE GRANTED PERMISSION TO ATTEND SCHOOL FUNCTIONS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE PRINCIPAL DEPENDING UPON THE MERITS OF THE INDIVIDUAL SITUATION WHICH LED TO PROBATION AND THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE STUDENT IS LIVING UP TO THE CONDITIONS OF THE PROBATION AS WELL AS THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE STUDENT IS IMPROVING WHILE ON PROBATION.

Coaches and faculty advisors, are asked to call the above to the attention of their students.
