A great start to the school year!

Michael HealeyOur students and staff are back into the school routine and the 2018-2019 school year is off to a great start here at Argyle CSD!

Our Capital Project is progressing as planned with several parts of the project completed or nearing completion, including our grade 3-6 classrooms, tennis courts, bus loop, and new bathrooms. The work on our gymnasium, fitness center, locker rooms, and front entrance of the school continues with substantial completion projected before the end of 2018. Our tennis and pickleball courts are open and available to the public, please feel free to use the courts for tennis or pickleball (after
school hours and on weekends)!

Over the summer, the district added a second distance learning room. Our high
school students are benefiting from the addition of several new distance learning
courses, including Legal and Ethical Environment of Business I, Psychology 101,
and Health.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, the district also added a Special Patrol
Officer (SPO). As an added benefit, our SPO, Matt Lohret, has been meeting with
classes to share Internet and cell phone safety tips and will be participating in staff
and student safety training throughout the year.

Our students and staff have also enjoyed “Taste Test Thursdays” and the many new
breakfast and lunch menu options available from the Argyle Cafeteria!

As a reminder, there will be no school for students on Friday, October 19th, as our faculty and staff will be participating in the Washington County Regional Superintendent’s Day. Our faculty will be working with teachers in our neighboring schools on creating a network of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) designed to enhance communication and sharing of best practices specific to each grade level and subject areas; our teacher aides will be attending training pertaining to effectively working with students of all backgrounds; and our bus drivers will receive training and will be certified in CPR and first aid.

There are many exciting events coming up in October and November. Please see
the back page of our district newsletter for a calendar of events. My sincere hope is that the first month of school has been a positive, rewarding experience for each and every child and family in our district.
