Middle School English is a holistic approach to Language Arts.  Short stories, poetry, novels, and nonfiction pieces will be analyzed throughout the year.  In addition, students will be practicing the writing process by producing a variety of writing pieces.

AIS English focuses on reading and writing skills necessary for success in all subject areas. Argyle Central School standards, along with national and state standards, require all students to master a set of reading objectives, with an emphasis on these key comprehension areas: main idea, summarizing, inference, cause and effect, point of view, fact and opinion, sequencing, and context clues. AIS aims to master these skills, along with responding in clear and well-organized paragraphs and essays that will go a long way toward the success of any future writing that students will do.
