Cafeteria Introduces "Share Table" to Reduce Food Waste in School Lunch Program
Posted on 01/22/2018
On Monday, January 22,  a "Share Table" was introduced in the Argyle Central School cafeteria for breakfast and lunch.  “Share Tables” encourage the consumption of nutritious foods and reduce food waste in the National School Lunch Program.

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) recognizes that, for various reasons, children may not always want to consume a certain food or beverage item included in their meal.

“Share Tables” are tables or stations for students to return whole food or beverage items they choose not to eat if it is in compliance with local and State health and food safety codes.
These food or beverage items can be reused in a number of ways:
  •  An additional helping of a food or beverage for a student at no cost.
  •  To be served during an after-school program or snack time.
  • Donated to a non-profit organization, such as a community food bank, homeless shelter, or other non-profit charitable organization.

Argyle CSD is excited to start sharing!
