What does a school counselor do?
A school counselor supports students by addressing their academic, emotional, and social needs. They help with coursework planning and career guidance. They can also offer techniques for managing stress, improving interpersonal skills, and navigating school obstacles. Counselors work with students, teachers, and parents to create a positive learning environment and ensure students have the resources and support necessary to succeed in school and their future endeavors.
Students can participate in individual and group counseling sessions with Mrs. Pafundi.
What does a school social worker do?
A school social worker’s goal is to improve students' overall well-being and help them overcome challenges that impact their academic and social performance. They can work with families to resolve issues affecting education, and intervene during crises. They advocate for students' needs within the school system, connect families with community resources and work with teachers and counselors to create a supportive environment.
What does a school psychologist do?
A school psychologist supports students' mental health and educational development by conducting assessments to identify learning disabilities, emotional issues, and behavioral problems. They provide individual and group counseling, develop interventions to address academic and social challenges, and partner with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create effective support plans. Their role involves promoting positive mental health, improving classroom environments, and helping students achieve their full potential.
