Positive COVID-19 Case

Over the weekend, the District learned that an individual in the Jr/Sr High School has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was last in the building on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.  The individual is now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

We are continuing to work closely with the Washington County Health Department (DOH) on their contact tracing efforts. A recent change in Washington County DOH procedure now only requires individuals seated within 6 feet of a confirmed positive to quarantine (not the entire classroom).

As a result of this change, and as the district determines individuals affected by this most recent case of COVID-19,  all 11th grade students will transition to our remote learning model on Monday, May 17, 2021 and resume in-person instruction on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

All families of students who are required to quarantine as a result of this positive exposure will be  directly contacted by the District by the end of the day on Monday, May 17, 2021,

If your child was in close proximity (meaning 6 feet or less) to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will also contact you directly.

Other than Grade 11, the District will remain open for in-person instruction.

The District will perform additional cleaning and disinfection procedures throughout the Jr/Sr High School and will continue our regular cleaning and disinfection procedures as scheduled.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please feel free to contact the District if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Michael Healey

Superintendent of Schools
