ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

At the Elementary level, the focus is on literacy and standards-based instruction. The academic year is broken into three 13-week marking periods, which allows for increased time for teaching and assessing studentsundefined progress toward mastery of the standards. A math lab (similar to science labs already in place) was instituted to provide students additional time to master required skills. Our teachers engage students through the use of technology and enrichment.

ACADEMIC AWARDS
Students in grades 3-6 are recognized each trimester for their academic excellence.

BOOK CLUBS
These clubs are held after school or during lunch periods.

CHARACTER EDUCATION/STUDENT OF THE MONTH
We incorporate character education into our daily routines. Students may be recognized for demonstrating positive character, leadership, and achieving high academic goals.

CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS
To maintain a balanced classroom environment, teachers and the elementary principal place all students in classes. Teacher requests are not accepted. If you have a specific concern, it must be put in writing and sent to the Elementary Principal by May 1 of the current year, and a meeting will be held.

CURRICULUM
Subject areas include language arts, math, social studies, health, personal safety, science, physical education, music, art, character education, and media/library.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Parent/Teacher Conferences occur during the fall of each school year. Your childundefineds teacher will notify you of the exact time and date of your conference. Some elementary program students will have parent-teacher conferences in the spring. Teachers will contact parents/guardians regarding these conferences at this time.

PRE-K
Argyle offers a full-day pre-kindergarten program. The program offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum that focuses on the development of a childundefineds language, academic, physical, emotional, and social skills. See the Universal Pre-K FAQ page under links.
