What is the Role of a School Counselor?
School Counselors address students’ academic, career and social/emotional development in addition to balancing delivery methods, recognizing that students learn in multiple ways. We have the unique responsibility of advocating for all students and provide support in a variety of ways through Direct Student Services, which includes the delivery of our school counseling curriculum (instruction & group activities), individual student planning, and responsive services for counseling & crisis situations. Additionally, we provide Indirect Student Services, which includes consultation with parents, teachers, other educators & community organizations, collaboration with other educators, parents and the community, and referrals to school or community resources.
