Capital Improvement Project

On August 2, 2016, the Argyle Board of Education asked voters to consider a $6.3 million project. The community of Argyle voted to approve the building project.

Voters were asked to approve 3 propositions regarding the project:

• Proposition #1 Capital Project $4,995,529

This proposition authorizes the following major improvements and repairs to the building: reconstruct the 1939 entrance and pillars, reconstruct the bus loop and sidewalks, renovate the boys and girls locker rooms, replace ceilings and lighting in the 4-6 wing in conjunction with the energy performance contract and several building and site repairs and upgrades (listed below). 1939 Entrance & Pillars Side Walk Bus Loop Locker Rooms

• Proposition #2 Outdoor Recreational Courts $303,750

This proposition will authorize the restoration of three courts in the area between the bus loop and the road. The courts will be built to accommodate tennis, basketball, and pickleball. Since the bus loop will be completely reconstructed and drainage issues addressed, the recreational courts will be able to be located there.

• Proposition #3 1939 Gymnasium Reconstruction $1,073,250

This proposition will authorize a renovation of the gym space and stage. The gym will continue to be used for physical education classes and athletic practices. Due to the age of the gym floor, it is not able to be sanded and restored and needs to be replaced. After many discussions regarding the use of the stage, the recommendation is to remove the stage to accommodate the building code requirements for handicap accessibility. The floor space will then be reconstructed into a separate, multi-use instructional space.
