May 2, 2021
Over the weekend, the District learned that two individuals in the Elementary School (from the same household) have tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals were last in the building on April 26, 2021 and April 30, 2021. Both individuals are now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.
We are continuing to work closely with the Washington County Health Department (DOH) on contact tracing efforts. At this point, all families of students and all faculty/staff required to quarantine as a result of these positive exposures have been directly contacted by the District. If your child was in close proximity (meaning 6 feet or less) to these individuals for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly.
As a result of an in-person staffing shortage created by required quarantines, all 4th grade students will transition to our remote learning model on Monday, May 3, 2021. Our 4th grade classes will resume in-person instruction on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
Students in 4th grade are to work on their 24-hour emergency packet on Monday, May 3, 2021. In addition, the 4th Grade NYS Math test, scheduled for Tuesday, May 4, 2021, will be rescheduled to later this week.
Other than Grade 4, the District will remain open for in-person instruction.
The District will perform additional cleaning and disinfection procedures throughout the Elementary School and will continue our regular cleaning and disinfection procedures as scheduled.
Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.
Please feel free to contact the District if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Michael Healey
Superintendent of Schools
