UPDATE from the Interim Superintendent

UPDATE from the Interim Superintendent
Posted on 04/04/2023

Dear Argyle School Community,

Working with our law enforcement partners at the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the district has been thoroughly searched, including the use of specially trained K-9 units, and has been cleared.

Since all of our Washington County Schools except for Argyle, Fort Ann, and Putnam received a common email threat early this morning, we all delayed to support a coordinated response. Based on the initial investigation, the threat received in Washington County was also received in school districts throughout New York State. Any threat against the school district is taken extremely seriously. Law enforcement and the schools worked together utilizing every available resource to properly search our facilities and ensure the building is safe for our school population.

As a result of our buildings being cleared we opened at 10:00 am to conduct a regular two-hour delay schedule. Please note, in addition to School Resource Officer, Officer Lohret, additional deputies from the Sheriff's Office and the State Police will be onsite today as an additional measure of safety and security.

I continue to appreciate your patience and support as we work through this challenging situation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the district at 518-638-8243. The safety and well-being of our school community is, and always will be, our first priority.

Mark Bessen
Interim Superintendent
