I’d like to take a moment and thank the Argyle CSD school community for your continued partnership throughout this period of the pandemic, especially during this challenging and confusing week.
A great deal of misinformation has been circulating throughout the state and I want to thank our community for continuing to work with, and trust, the district.
Since the pandemic began, school districts throughout New York State have been working hard to navigate the ever-changing guidance and state mandates that are issued with little or no advanced communication from the state agencies.
I continue to be thankful that our community understands that all the enacted mandates and daily protocols are coming directly from New York State and as a school district, we are required to comply with these regulatory agencies’ determinations.
Late yesterday, New York state school districts were notified by the Attorney General’s Office that there will not be oral arguments regarding the state’s appeal of the Nassau County Supreme Court decision on Friday.
Therefore, it is extremely unlikely that there will be a decision from the Appellate Court over the weekend. As a result, New York State’s requirement for masking in school remains in effect and will remain in effect until the NYS Appellate Court takes action.
Additionally, all the Superintendents in the WSWHE BOCES have signed onto a letter forwarded to Governor Hochul and Commissioner Bassett seeking a “Pathway to Normalcy” .
The letter advocates for NYS and DOH to work with school leaders in order to develop a clear plan for a "light at the end of the tunnel" and a return (or at least a timeline for return) to normal operations for our schools.
We will continue to share any changes in protocols as soon as they become available.
Sincerely,
Michael Healey, Superintendent
