COVID Positive Notification; January 26, 2021
Posted on 01/26/2021

On January 26, 2021, the District learned that an individual in the Jr/Sr High School has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was last in the building on Thursday, January 21, and is now in quarantine and will have to recover and be cleared by the Department of Health before returning to school.

We are continuing to work closely with the Washington County Health Department on contact tracing efforts. At this point, all students, faculty, and staff required to quarantine as a result of this positive exposure have been directly contacted by the district.  If you or your child were in close proximity to this individual for a certain period of time, the County Department of Health will contact you directly.

As a result of an in-person staffing shortage created by required quarantines, the students in the Jr/Sr High School (Grades 7-12) will transition to a remote learning model on Wednesday January 27; Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29th.  The Jr/Sr High School will resume in-person instruction on Monday, February 1, 2021.

The Elementary School (Grades K-6)  will remain open for in-person instruction.

In working with the Washington County Health Department, our district feels that transitioning to remote instruction last Friday, January 22, provided us with sufficient time to perform additional cleaning and disinfection procedures in the district.  The district will continue its regular cleaning and sanitation procedures over the course of this week in preparation for a full return to in-person learning on Monday, February 1, 2021.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

Please feel free to contact the district if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Michael Healey

Superintendent of Schools
